PACKAGING, REIMAGINED FOR A LIGHTER FUTURE

We don’t design packaging to impress — we design it to endure, to refill, and to return gently to the planet.

OUR SYSTEM: REFILL BY DESIGN

At the core of our packaging philosophy is a simple logic: a durable object that lives with you + a lighter refill system that leaves less behind.

At The Today Project, we offer Sustainable Luxurious Personal Care in bulk, presenting our eco-friendly approach with refillable aluminum bottles and an innovative Eco-Refill system.

Use. Refill. Repeat

OUR PACKAGING PRINCIPLES

At The Today Project, packaging is not just a container — it’s a reflection of our values. Every decision we make is grounded in environmental responsibility, material transparency, and long-term functionality. We believe that packaging should respect what it holds, the skin it touches, and the planet it returns to.

  • The Least Environmental Impact

We start with one guiding question: What is the least impactful option that still protects the product and elevates the ritual of use?
    That’s why we choose:

    • Aluminum over plastic

    • Paper and cellulose over composite board

    • Simplified formats that eliminate unnecessary components

We reject multilayer materials (except where product protection still requires them) and decorative packaging that adds waste without function. Every material must have a clear purpose — and a clean afterlife.
Our goal is simple: to remove more than we add.

  • We consciously avoid conventional plastic wherever possible, prioritizing refillable formats made from lower-impact materials—like our durable, BPA-free aluminum bottles, which are fully recyclable and designed to last.

For the few elements where plastic remains necessary, we opt for minimal, optimized packaging and continually seek recyclable or reusable alternatives.

Our Eco-Refill System reduces packaging volume by up to 99% compared to standard plastic bottles. While our refill pouches are currently made of plastic—for reasons of performance and safety—they are designed to be returned. This allows us to collect, recondition, and reuse them as part of a closed-loop production cycle.

All refill bags and refillable containers can be sent back to us, supporting a truly circular system and making a tangible impact in reducing waste.

We believe that bulk formats and smart refill systems are among the most effective ways to lower plastic consumption in everyday routines—without compromising performance, safety, or design.

  • We avoid plastic wherever we can. But when it’s the most functional solution, we use it with strict criteria:

    • Only in flexible format, never rigid

    • Mono-material, to ensure recyclability

    • Never decorated or laminated, so it doesn’t compromise waste streams

  • We actively avoid secondary packaging such as boxes, sleeves or wraps. When absolutely necessary — for protection, shipping or logistics — we apply strict rules:

    • Only uncoated paper and cellulose-based materials

    • No lamination, no plastic film, no foil stamping

    • Printed with low-impact inks and glue-free where possible

These materials are 100% recyclable — designed to disappear, not linger.

  • Circularity isn’t a trend for us — it’s a requirement.
We design each component with its end of life in mind:

    • Mono-material packaging for efficient sorting

    • Disassemblable parts, easy to clean and recycle

    • Refill logic and take-back readiness built into the structure

Our packaging isn't meant to impress in a landfill — it's meant to stay in the loop.

  • We believe true luxury is invisible — felt in the experience, not in the excess.
Our packaging is light by design, both visually and materially. It feels good to hold, elegant to use, and effortless to reuse.

We don't equate weight with value. We design for refined utility, quiet beauty, and future-conscious indulgence.

WHY WE SAY NO TO PLASTIC

Plastic is everywhere — and almost nowhere to go.
It’s a material that doesn’t biodegrade and is rarely recycled, despite what the label may claim. Most cosmetic packaging ends up in landfills or oceans, persisting for hundreds of years.

At The Today Project, we avoid plastic whenever possible.
But in some cases, eliminating it entirely is not yet feasible, as no other material can perform the same function safely and efficiently.

A typical family uses 250 plastic bottles of personal care annually.

WHY WE CHOOSE ALUMINUM

Aluminum is infinitely recyclable, lightweight, and protective — with high recycling rates and zero loss in quality. On top, PCR is very low on carbon footprint.

THE ECO REFILL SYSTEM

100% RENEWABLE

Our refillable bottles are made of PCR aluminum, 100% recyclable & BPA-free. These bottles can be washed and reused for a long time, and more important: they can be recycled infinitely.

1% WASTE

Our Eco Refill Pouches are made of plastic, BUT with them, we save 99% of the volume generated by conventional plastic bottles. All refill bags can be returned, reconditioned, and reused.

THE REFILL LOGIC

  • By reusing the main container, we reduce the production and transport of new packaging materials. That means fewer resources consumed, less manufacturing energy, and a significant drop in emissions per use.

  • Our refill capsules and pouches are lighter and more compact than full-size packaging, which means fewer trucks, less fuel, and a softer impact on global logistics.

  • Traditional packaging is designed to be discarded. Ours isn’t.
The refill format generates up to 80% less packaging waste — and the components we do use are designed for recycling, reuse or compostability.

  • The system is designed not only for sustainability, but also for simplicity:

    • Clean refills that pour without mess

    • Compact formats that take up less space

    • Elegant routines that feel effortless, not industrial

replaces 14 household product bottles (amounting to 700 g of plastic)* generating only 1% of the VOLUME WASTE

*for every 5 liters of packaged products.

Refill is not just about the product. It’s about changing the way we consume

more consciously, more lightly, and more beautifully.

HOW TO REFILL

Refilling is simple:

  1. Remove the protective seals from the refill pouch.

  2. Press the dispenser on your main container.

  3. Pour the formula in slowly.

For thicker textures, you might need to squeeze, twist or press the pouch firmly to help the product flow.
Don’t worry — the pouch is durable and won’t break, even with strong pressure.

Refilling should feel intuitive and effortless — and once you’ve done it, you’ll never go back.

SECONDARY PACKAGING

When Less is More

We actively avoid secondary packaging like boxes, sleeves, or wraps — unless it's essential for product protection or shipping.
When we do use it, we apply strict criteria:

  • Only recycled, uncoated paper, stickers

  • No lamination, no plastic coatings

  • 100% recyclable, compostable, and clean

No luxury in layers. If it doesn’t serve a purpose, it doesn’t belong.

We’re not here to make packaging look luxurious — we’re here to make it matter.
Our commitment is to reduce environmental burden while elevating how you care for your skin and your space.

Because packaging isn’t just part of the product — it’s part of the future.

JOIN THE REFILL CULTURE

All the plastic bottles in our oceans today could cover an area as large as Europe.
